What is theft and shoplifting
Petty theft is a type of theft crime that is based on the low value of the stolen property. Most states divide theft laws into two categories- grand theft and petty theft. In many states, theft of property worth over $400-$500 is considered to be grand theft. All other thefts are classified as petty theft.

Insights of Shoplifter
This is a brief personal story of a person remembering how he shoplifted when he was younger, along with some very different conclusions and insights into who he really is today.
At my Toastmasters meeting, the speaker shared about what it had been like to shoplift cigarettes as a young boy. Almost instantly, I was transported back in time to Macungie, Pennsylvania, where I lived when I was eleven years old.
These were the days when cigarettes were placed in the checkout lanes next to the candy and you could just grab a pack without asking a store employee behind the counter to get it for you.
